Children as Citizens of God's Kingdom

In the life and work of Jesus Christ we see He was very clear in his thoughts concerning the importance of children. He considered their humility to be a standard for the conduct of those considered “Great in the Kingdom of God.”Jesus rebuked his disciples when they considered it a waste of his time to "bless" small childrenIf the Author and Creator of the universe had time to “bless” little children should we not do the same?

Village in IndiaIt was February 1997. The sound of the jet engines droned in my ears as we flew 36,000 feet above the ocean. This was now the third time that I had taken this thirty six-hour flight to the great nation of India. Though these flights were long it was a good opportunity for reflection and preparation for the sights and scenes that awaited our landing. Even this time of the year the temperatures would be at least eighty degrees. A wave of heat would greet us when we walked from the air-conditioned airport to our waiting hosts.

The mission of the Ecclesia Children’s Ministries is to model the life of Christ as the example and standard for conduct and life. The goal of this mission is to have qualification within our programs and students as well as quantification. Our goal is to find, fill and equip those whom the Lord has called to work with children programs.

A sea of facesThe challenges of reaching children in India are great! In India alone 48% of the population is under the age of 13! By the year 2020, many project that India will have a population of 1.3 billion people. If India continues to grow at its present rate it will become the most populated country on the face of the earth.

A recent study published by PROBE (Public Report on Basic Education) conducted among several states in northern India indicated that the average years of schooling for children is 1.8 years for girls and 2.2 years for boys.
